UPDATED WITH VIDEO!

Chris Brown has many assets: the dance moves, the voice, the urban pinup boy looks and the fame. He is a creature not lacking in much and tonight at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, an abundance of excitable fans were pleased by a solid start to his F.A.M.E tour. Blasting onto the stage in Marine Army fatigues, Chris Brown was in fact far from fatigued, showing an energetic poise that lasted the entire show.

It should be noted up front that Chris Brown is an excellent dancer, he moves with athletic precision and agility and his rhythm is in harmony with the array of choreographed routines. As with such shows of a grand nature, where it appears that the choreography plays a major part, such acts can be accused of immersing themselves far too much in pre-recorded vocal tracks. Not Mr Brown. Instead Brown struck the perfect balance and showed that he does possess vocal talent.

What kind of true RnB stage show is complete without the mandatory semi-striptease. This show went the extra level and provided a video cut scene featuring an up close and personal viewing of Chris Brown tizzying himself up for a night on the town. Audience interaction whereby Brown serenades a lucky female plucked strategically from the crowd completed the mandatory requirements of RnB show 101.

Brown moves well

The DJ display mid-show was alarmingly long and had many wondering if this was simply filler. All was explained as the backing dancers took the stage in yet another costume change, with Brown sparsely dressed once again proving the fact that perhaps shirts are somewhat redundant on this F.A.M.E tour.

His chart topping hits obviously created the best crowd response, and the the laser light dancer routine at the end of the show was reminiscent of something from a Kanye West/Daft Punk live concert. The show for the uninitiated, proved that Brown’s music is beyond pop-rnb. There are strong elements of dance and house music, but always with a hint of “urban”.

If you were to measure the success of the show by the enthusiasm of the crowd, this would have to rate as a true winner for Chris Brown.
